Solid unit July 30, 2010 Castello (Central OH, USA) I am very happy with this unit as you need this type of charger to keep your batteries working at their peak.
Instructions could be clearer.
God bless Amazon. They emailed me that Lacrosse would replace the faulty charge adapters of BC-9009 for free, and linked me right to them.
You can't beat this July 26, 2010 Charles 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been using rechargeable batteries since I bought my Canon Powershot A80 back in 2003, which used 4 AA cells. Since then, I must've thrown about 3 packs of 4, and stored about 4 packs which used to last no longer than a few shots each time I fired up the camera. I thought the problem were the batteries, until I read an article mentioning that cells should be charged at a rate not greater than 1/5 of its total capacity per hour (if they're 2500 mAh, the charge shouldn't be more than 500mAh per hour).
All of the chargers I've had charged at more (much more) than 1/5 of my batteries capacities (I have all 2500 mAh except for a few 2700 ones). My last charger charged at 2000 mAh per hour, so that's 4/5 of a 2500 mAh battery. And this is why my batteries used to have a very short life.
Since I bought this product, I've recycled my 4 packs of 4 AA batteries (that's 16 batteries) to a usable state (though not perfect, because they had already been mistreated), but a usable state anyway. Thus, I've been able to bring back to life various toys for my 2 year old, who was obviously also paying the price of not having batteries for all his toys every 6 months or so. Oh, and I've also been able to use toys which used C size and even D size batteries, thanks to the 8 adaptors it comes with. Ah, and yes, I almost forgot: I didn't have to go and buy new cells because it brings 4 AA and 4 AAA ones, all for about USD 40.
No need to go into details with the LCD screen, various modes (which can be applied to each separate battery at a time), various charging currents, etc.
You simple cannot beat this.

Seems to work well, but no instructions beyond the short pictorial on the side of the box. I hope I'm using it right.
Excellent! July 23, 2010 Jerrit G. Tyler (Baroda, Michigan United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've heard about horror stories of melted charges but it seems the issue was with a power supply putting out too much voltage. The La Crosse web site has a page to order a new (correct voltage) power supply but based on the pictures they show you to determine if you have the older (bad) power supply mine came with the new one.
I have cycled about 30 times with 15 or so different AA's and so far not even a bit of sign of too much heat. I only wish it could charge my C and D Nimh cells.
Quality Issues... July 22, 2010 M. Carlisle (Dallas, Texas) I have used the La Crosse Chargers many years both units failed a year ago and were replaced with one unit 10 months ago and a second unit 3 months ago. Now both of the replacement units have failed. One will not detect batteries and just keeps rebooting itself the other has lost the charging circuit in the third battery slot.
Greatly disappointed in what was one a quality unit. I have to replace both of these charges now what I can tell you is I will stay away from the La Crosse units, the reliability is just not there.
